Freeware as I see it...
=======================
My software is usually released under the SPFL - the Slightly Paranoid Freeware Licence - see below.
The 'slightly paranoid' bit has to do with people taking (part of) my software and slamming THEIR copyright notice on it, effectively blocking MY free usage! I get very annoyed when that happens, so don't do it or I'll come down on you like a ton of bricks.

Slightly Paranoid Freeware Licence
==================================
This stuff is mine. I created it myself, so I decide what you're allowed to do with it. If you don't like that, you don't install or use this software. Simple.

This licence applies to the whole package, even if some bits also show up in other software I have written or am maintaining and even if that software is governed by a different type of licence. The only parts that are excluded (i.e. bits I didn't write myself but found elsewhere), are the ones marked as such.

This software is provided free of charge and 'as is'. You may install and use it freely, but you do so at your own risk. I make no warranty of ANY kind with respect to this software and any accompanying documentation and I will not be liable for ANY damages arising out of the use of or inability to use it.
Make sure you have a clear understanding of the meaning of the word ANY.

You may distribute this software on online services, bulletin boards or other electronic media and on CD-ROM, disk or other physical media as long as the distribution package isn't modified. You may not sell or lease it, but you may charge a modest fee for the physical act of transferring a copy.

As long as you don't distribute the result, you may take this software to pieces and put it back together again (or not). If while scrutinizing, disassembling or reverse engineering you find anything of interest, by all means use it in your own software - provided this isn't proprietary and/or commercial and doesn't have any military use - but don't pass it off as your own.

I retain the copyright of everything I have written. Although I'm usually not too fussy about that, be aware that if you do pick useful bits out of this software and then have the audacity to try to prevent ME from exercising my rights with regard to those bits, you may find yourself in serious trouble...

Note
====
Regarding the second paragraph of this licence: I will never include software released under the GNU GPL in SPFL-software, but you may find bits of my SPFL-software in GPL-software I maintain. This DOES NOT automatically put the whole program these bits came from under the GPL, no matter what anyone - including the Free Software Foundation - may tell you.
